NEW N.C. PRESIDENT TAKES OVER

It was a historic day in the annals of the Society in India when Bro. V .M.J. Balaswamy took charge as the new president of the Society in India on 28.02.09 at Ve1ankannai, a famous Marian Shrine in Tamil Nadu.

As it has been the tradition of the Society here and world over, the president was a unanimous choice by the Holy Spirit. The choice was apt as Bro. V.M.J. Balaswamy brings with him a track record of dedicated service and wide experience.

Bro. V.M.J. Balaswamy took charge at the Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. V. Rajasekar who is also his god son. The new president after the mass was taken in a procession to the venue where a simple celebratory function was organized.

The function was attended by Bro. T. Joseph Pandian the out going president who administered the oath of office to the new incumbent. Bro. P.V. Alexander. former President of the National Council, Bro. J.A. D'Souza, Bro. Clarence, Bro. Xavier James Raj, Bro. S. Pious, Bro. Antony Kempuraj, Bro. Yagappan, Bro. P.U. Reon and various office bearers and members of the Society from all over India.

Over the years the Society in India has grown at a good and steady pace. Our membership has increased manifold and we have many more conferences spread through the country, in remote areas that are unmarked even in maps. Our activities too have been diversified. From an organisation that focused on charity and meeting immediate needs, the Society has come far away. While we do attend to immediate and short term needs, our focus today is on long term need; we plan and execute projects that would make our beneficiaries self reliant. We work on ways to help people regain faith, confidence and dignity.

It is at this juncture Bro. Balaswamy takes over. His unshakable faith in the love of God and the power of the human will and his own rich experience will be of immense use to the society and to the people whom we seek to serve.

Let us assure him of our continued support and cooperation and pray for our Lord's blessings.

We wish him and his team a fruitful tenure.
